Motion Detectors

A motion detector is a device that detects moving objects, mainly people and performs a task such as turn on a light. These sensors are a very important component of security, home control, energy efficiency, automated lighting control, and other helpful systems. Motion detectors can also calm your fears when it automatically lights up outside your garage, sidewalk or areas in your yard. Type of Motion Detectors:

  • Passive Infrared (PIR) – These detectors detect IR radiation in people by emitting electricity. These detectors are commonly used in indoor alarms, sensors are economical, don’t use more energy and last a long time.
  • Ultrasonic - Ultrasonic detector can be active (or) passive. Passive ones detect certain sounds. Active ones generate ultrasonic wave (sound wave) pulses and then determine the reflection of these waves off a moving object.
  • Microwave - These detectors generate microwave pulses and then calculate their reflection off of objects, in order to know whether objects are moving or not..
  • Tomographic - These detectors generate radio waves and detect when those waves are troubled. They can penetrate through walls and objects, and can cover large areas.
