We had the opportunity of being interviewed by Wisconsin Real Estate, one of the top sites for real estate in the area. Check out our complete interview on 5 TIPS FOR GETTING ELECTRICAL WORK DONE RIGHT-Featured on WisconsinRealEstate.
When is it a good idea for homeowners to consult a licensed electrician?
In our experience it is beneficial to consult a licensed electrician before embarking on any electrical repairs or modifications. This is because faulty electrical work can potentially create a hazardous situation. Electricians are trained professionals and they must meet National standards Codes and obey important safety laws. We have seen several homeowners without the proper training attempt to do repairs and for the majority of them the outcome has caused them to call on us to mend issues. This in the long run ends up costing them more money and time and puts their family and themselves at a big safety risk.
What qualifications should people look for before hiring an electrician? We suggest that clients check on the electrical contractor's license by going to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services Credential/Licensing Search (https://app.wi.gov/licensesearch).
They should also check to see if the contractor is properly insured and bonded.
Finally it wouldn't hurt to check on references from previous clients and jobs.
